Crisis
- Alachua County Crisis Line-24-hour telephone crisis intervention and counseling service offered by trained volunteers; short-term crisis counseling. All services free. For a live person, call 264-6789.
- Suicide Hotline- 24-hour, 7-days a week national suicide hotline. Calls are connected to closest certified crisis center. Use 1-800-Suicide, or 1-800-784-2433.

- Gay Switchboard- Provides 24 hour information on current events, social and support groups, local lesbigay nightclubs, supportive religious organizations, coming out, safer sex, AIDS, and community resources. Anonymous/confidential consultations and referrals are also given. Staffed 6pm to 11pm, 24 hour recordings @ 377-8915.
- Wild Iris- Feminist and queer recovery, fiction, spirituality, and children's books. Also queer videos (buy or rent), music, periodicals, and jewelry. Located @ 802 W. University Ave. You can reach the store @ 375-7477.

Equality Florida is a statewide education and advocacy organization dedicated
to eliminating discrimination based on sexual orientation, race, gender
and class. The organization reaches over 50,000 Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual,
Transgender and Supportive (GLBTS) households in Florida, making it one
of largest civil rights groups working at the state level.

- Alachua County Public Health Unit- AIDS/HIV anonymous testing and counseling, hepatitis B vaccinations, and syphilis testing for all ages 12 and up. Payment on a sliding scale from $0-20. They can be reached @ 334-7900.
- HIV Outpatient Services (Health Planning Council)- Offers housing referral, day care, dental care, clinical services, home health care, case management, transportation, hospice, counseling, and nutrition.
- Project AIDS Care, Medicaid Waiver Program (Alachua County Public Health Unit)- Outpatient and home health care services. The Gainesville phone number is 955-2364, or the Marion County Public Health Unit phone number is 629-0137).
